There is no doubt that we are living in a rapidly changing world. In fact, according to sociologists and thinkers, the West has undergone the most critical transformation in the last hundred years, producing a drastic paradigm shift in the 21st century—a new mindset and a different way of viewing and understanding life and reality. This change did not occur suddenly and unexpectedly; it had been developing for some decades and has now reached its climax.
In light of this situation, Oss Guinness has called Christians to consider embarking on a third mission to the West. We believe that to do this effectively, Christians must tackle the implications of living under this new paradigm shift. Understanding this new situation produced by the postmodern way of thinking will enable Christians and the church at large to tackle the real problems and find ways and means to accomplish this task.
